Why don’t I see my newly created QuickBooks or Xero currency accounts in Venn?

If you don’t see your newly created currency accounts in the dropdown on Venn "Settings Accounting", it’s likely because Venn hasn’t yet recognized them through the current accounting connection.

To refresh the connection and load the new accounts:

Option 1: Manually refresh the accounting data

  • Step 1: Go to Venn "Accounting"

  • Step 2: Select the icon (curved arrows) to update the accounting data in Venn.

Option 2: Disconnect and reconnect Venn.

If refreshing and correcting categories doesn’t resolve the issue:

  • Step 1: Go to Venn "Settings Accounting"

  • Step 2: Select "Disconnect" to either QuickBooks or Xero

  • Step 3: Select "Connect" to either QuickBooks or Xero

Note: Disconnecting—also known as doing a hard reset—will not delete any unsynced transactions in Venn. However, it may cause some transactions to lose their assigned categories in your accounting software, which means you may need to re-categorize them after reconnecting.

Option 3: Wait for the automatic refresh

  • Venn automatically refreshes the accounting connection every night at midnight. Your new currency accounts should appear the next day.

After refreshing the connection, to select newly created currency accounts for connecting to Venn:

  • Step 1: Go to Venn "Settings Accounting"

  • Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select the currency accounts

⚠️ Please note: If you switch to new currency accounts, any previously synced transactions will not automatically transfer to the new accounts. You may need to re-record those transactions manually in the new accounts to keep your records complete and the simplest workaround is to export the transaction as a .csv file from Venn “Transactions”. Our export files are optimized for accounting software, making it easy to import the data into QuickBooks or Xero manually.
