How does the card decide which currency account to pull funds from?

Venn supports CAD, USD, EUR, and GBP currency balances. When you make a card purchase, Venn first looks for funds in the same currency as the charge. If there isn’t enough balance in that currency, it will then check your other currency accounts in a fixed order.

The order is as follows:

  • If the charge is in CAD:

    CAD → USD → EUR → GBP

  • If the charge is in USD:

    USD → CAD → EUR → GBP

  • If the charge is in EUR:

    EUR → CAD → USD → GBP

  • If the charge is in GBP:

    GBP → CAD → USD → EUR

  • If the charge is in any other currency:
    CAD → USD → EUR → GBP

Important to note:

  • The full transaction amount must be available in one single currency account. Funds cannot be pulled from multiple currency balances to complete a charge.

  • If none of your currency accounts have enough funds, the transaction will be declined.

  • For charges in other currencies, the amount is converted and then checked against your balances using the same order above.
